Honors:Today we read and worked through el cuento "La escuela de Rock," and read chapter 8 in Patricia. Tomorrow we will turn in Chapter 8 questions, and try to finish the novela.

Standard: Today we did pg. 148-150 in our workbook and then reviewed for pg. 213 vocab. quiz. This quiz will be tomorrow!

Honors: Only 3 weeks left in this quarter! Chapter 6 "Patricia" questions due tomorrow! Today we read through "El cuento del gato," and we will complete the story assignments tomorrow.

Standard: Today we learned pg. 213 vocabulary. We will do more with these words tomorrow! Make sure to check your last test grade. In case of a failure, these need to be retaken this week!

martes (el 12 de octubre)

Honors: Yesterday we went over -er verb conjugations and the students filled out the conjugation chart with the endings to -er verbs, the conjugation of comer, and the conjugation of beber. Today we read chapter 6 in Pobre Ana, and these questions are due Friday.

Standard: Yesterday vocabulary from page 129 was introduced. Today we went over the verb estar and looked at the difference in ser and estar. We looked at using emotion and location with the use of estar. Students need to complete pg. 177 ex. 8.

Honors:Today we discussed vocabulary regarding family members. Tomorrow we will have a quiz on agreement with articles, gender, and plurality. Pobre Ana Chapter 3 questions will be due tomorrow as well.

Standard: Today we continued to discuss telling time in Spanish. Study for our quiz tomorrow that will cover numbers 1-100. I will give you numbers to write in Spanish (ex. 27, you write veintiuno, or 35, you write treinta y cinco. I will also call out numbers that you will then write in numeric form.

Honors: Today we read through Chapter 3 in the novela, and turned in Chapter 2 questions. Chapter 3 questions will be due Friday.

Standard: Yesterday we went through numbers 1-100. Today we talked about the verb tener(to have). We also learned how to ask and tell ages in Spanish.

Be sure to continue to get participation points. This the 8th week of the nine weeks, so remember to check PowerSchool to make sure all of your work is turned in.

Honors: Yesterday we read Chapter 1 in Pobre Ana and received the Chapter 1 Questions. These will be due FRIDAY. Today we discussed the verb tener and the use of possessive adjectives.

Standard: Yesterday we reviewed the vocab. on page 75. For HW, students completed pg. 63 ex 8. Today we did ex. 1 and 2 on pg. 58. We also watched the telehistorias on pg. 59 and pg. 64. Friday's quiz will be on page 75 vocab.

lunes (el 20 de septiembre)

Honors: Friday we had our 5th vocabulary quiz of the quarter. Today will be the first day of the 7th week of school. We only have two weeks to go, so remember to continue to get participation points! Today we will do the story "Guillermo el gorila." For homework, students will finish the questions for this story, and will write their own questions for the story -La Revista-.

Standard: Friday we had our 4th vocabulary quiz. We studied gustar, subject pronouns, ser, and the vocab. from page 51 last week. This week we will look at articles and the next set of vocab. oday will be the first day of the 7th week of school. We only have two weeks to go, so remember to continue to get participation points!

Honors: Today we reviewed the use of gustar and practiced talking about likes and dislikes. We also completed the story -Susana la culebra-. Students should finish the questions for this story for homework if they did not finish in class.

Standard: We continued to practice with gustar and vocabulary on pg. 51. Students need to begin to prepare for the vocabulary quiz for Friday which will cover pg. 51 vocab. Students need to check PowerSchool to for any missed assignments that need to be made up.

Honors: Today we discussed shapes/the conjugation of ser/ and subject pronouns. Students then worked on an assignment that had them practice using articles/adjectives/and nouns. Students are to finish this for homework if they did not finish in class. Our first test will be on Friday!

Standard: Today we learned about subject pronouns and the conjugation of ser. Tomorrow we will do a review guide for our first test, and the test will be on Thursday!

Honors: Today we learned two new animals(el caballo-Derby/el conejo-Ears). Then we did a story "Pepe el triángulo." HW: Students need to write 2 sentences per picture on a handout I gave them. They are retelling the story to me. Our mid-point exam will be Friday.

Standard: Today we reviewed and did practice exercises on page 26-27. Our mid-point exam will be Thursday.

miércoles (el 25 de agosto)

Honors: Today we continued to discuss the Spanish-speaking countries. We also conjugated the verb ser, and learned about subject pronouns. Last night students chose 5 celebrities from Spanish-speaking countries and today they put them in sentences. Ex. (Ella) Penelope Cruz es de España. Students then wrote 5 sentences about two celebrities each. (ex. (Ellos) Penelope Cruz y Antonio Banderas son de España.) Students need to finish this assignment for homework.

Standard: Today we learned about classroom objects/commands. We then played "Simón dice..." to review these items. Students need to start studying the map of the Spanish-speaking countries and the months/days/numbers 1-10 for Friday's quiz.

Honors: Today we discussed the 21 Spanish-speaking countries (official language) and their capitals.
HW: Have your parents come to Open House tonight at 6:00! And research 5 celebrities that come from a Spanish-speaking country. Be prepared to use them in an activity tomorrow.

Standard: Today we reviewed days/dates in Spanish and students were able to ask and tell dates. Students also had to call out their phone number using Spanish numbers 1-10.
HW: Have your parents come to Open House tonight at 6:00! Also, ex. 21 pg. 21.

Honors: Today we went over the words vaca and cerdo. We reviewed previous weeks info. and went over asking and telling dates (months/days of the week). HW: Tonight students will write an 8 sentence story that incorporates animals/sentences we've discussed in class.

Standard: Today we discussed days of the week/months/ asking and telling dates/ numbers 1-10.
HW:Students will be prepared to tell what their phone number is in Spanish.

Honors: Today we discussed "el abecedario." We also reviewed for our 2nd vocab. quiz tomorrow. There will be 30 TPRS vocab. words on the quiz tomorrow. (HW:Study for quiz and be prepared to spell your Spanish name using the letters of the Spanish alphabet.

Standard: Today we reviewed "el abecedario" (from pg. 10), and students spelled their name using the Spanish letters. We then did a vocab. review in preparation for tomorrow's vocab. quiz. This quiz will cover the second half of the words from pg. 25 that were not covered on the last quiz. (HW:Study)

Honors: Today we reviewed vocabulary/llamarse/ and ser de and we learned a few new vocabulary words. We also reviewed months/days/dates in Spanish.
(HW)Students were given six dates to write in Spanish. Tomorrow they have a VOCAB QUIZ over 20 of the TPRS vocab. words.

Standard: Today we reviewed vocabulary/llamarse/ser de/greetings and we learned a few new vocabulary words.

Honors: Today we reviewed "llamarse" and then we practiced with "Where are you from?," etc. using dónde/ser/de. We then did some TPR responses to the words agarra, atrapa, and suelta.
(HW)- Tonight students will reexamine their 5 celebrities from the hw from yesterday. They will write a complete sentence for each celebrity telling (in Spanish) where the individual is from. [Ex. Tim Tebow es de Florida.]

Standard: Today we learned how to ask and tell each others names and where we are from (in Spanish).
(HW) students will select five celebrities and will write a complete for each. They will tell what the individual's name is. [Ex. El chico se llama Tim Tebow.] REMEMBER TO COVER TEXTBOOKS!

Honors: Turned in parent info. and honors fees. ($25 for novelas and $5 for dictionaries) Practiced with the verb "llamarse".
HW: Print or draw 5 pictures of a celebrity or athlete. Write a sentence by each picture describing, in Spanish, the name of the individual.

Standard: Turned in parent info. and money for dictionaries ($5). Received text book and completed textbook scavenger hunt.
HW: Get textbook covered, because it is a BRAND new textbook.

Honors and Standard: 1) Completed and turned in student info. sheet in class. 2)Went over syllabus for Spanish 1. 3)Reviewed supplies needed for Spanish 1 class. 4)Picked Spanish names to go by in class this year.

At home: Students should review syllabus with parent and complete and detach the bottom half with parent/student information. This should be turned into Mrs. May tomorrow 8/10. Also students need to review supply list and fees(for honors) and take care of these as soon as possible. Parents and student may email me with any questions or concerns at m2may@scsk12.org.
